The Kardashian’s are quickly becoming the most famous family in the world, year on year making more profit from their brands. But how did they build such an empire?

Kris Jenner herself, in 2010, made what at the time seemed a wild prediction. When being interviewed by a Los Angeles Times reporter the momager said that in ten years’ time “It’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 24. Kylie gets married.” Let’s just take a quick rewind back to 2010, twitter wasn’t very popular, Instagram wasn’t even out yet! (Instagram came out in October of 2010). Meaning influencers were a distant thing of the future. 

The viewers of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s” expected the girls fame to fizzle, in the same way that it did for Paris Hilton. However, Kris and her brood took full advantage of the new world of social media, using it to their advantage by creating the family’s own branding. 

Fast forward to current day, the Kardashian’s now have a huge empire to their name, including a billion dollar makeup company, many clothing lines, nine grandchildren and a further eight spin off shows from the original ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s’.

Kris Jenner’s prediction wasn’t that far off at all. Ten years later and ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s’ is now on Season eighteen, not twenty four. Kylie isn’t married, and has actually split from her most recent partner, Travis Scott. However Kylie did welcome a lovely baby girl, Stormi, into the world in early 2018. 

The momager has been able to market the five daughters into not only celebrities, but iconic business women. 

The Kardashian’s began as almost complete nobodies, only being known for their association to the OJ murder trial. Within a matter of ten or so years the family have become A list celebrities would feature in world recognised magazines such as Forbes. Kim Kardashian raised awareness around the criminal justice system in America, and stood up for people on death row. 

Even prior to social media the family had created a whole new category of celebrity in its own right. The category of reality TV. The show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s’ gave normal, everyday people a chance to take a peek into the world of the Kardashians. As the show grew and the girls rose from D listers to A listers, viewers got a chance to see what it is like to live a day in the Kardashian’s lives. Important meetings, the running of their companies, even down to how the girls organise their homes. 

Many people think the Kardashian’s fame came from their former Olympic athlete dad, Caitlyn Jenner. Some even believe that Kim Kardashian’s sex tape is the reason the family shot to fame. When in reality, Kris Jenner, who was a stay at home mum at the time, managed to market her five daughters into rich and famous, iconic celebrities. She did this with the help of ever evolving social media and amazing momager skills that just cannot be ignored!
